| Subject: Ozschwitz: Incompetent Department of Community Services Loses Teenager Sat Apr 05, 2008 9:23 pm | |
| THE case of Sydney's home-alone teenager has taken a shocking turn - the government department responsible for her doesn't know where she is.
Amber, 14, went into Department of Community Services care two months ago after The Sun-Herald revealed in November she was living alone in the western suburbs after the sudden death of her father. She wanted to stay in the Housing Department unit they had shared. "I want someone as my carer but I don't know who that is going to be," she said. "I just wish my dad was here - I hate it."
A DOCS spokeswoman issued a plea yesterday for Amber, or anyone who knows where she is, to contact its hotline on 132 111.
Amber, who had a long history with DOCS, moved into supervised accommodation with others on February 6, but vanished with another resident three weeks later.
