| PUBLIC servants who are being paid a full salary even though they have no job to do will be made redundant after the state government moved to axe the scheme which allowed employees to ''drift in limbo indefinitely''.
The Premier, Barry O'Farrell, said the decision to scrap the ''no forced redundancies'' policy came after a review discovered 390 public servants who had left their jobs were still being paid and 56 of those have not had a permanent job for at least a year, and in some cases more than a decade.
The review also uncovered 25 employees who were being paid out of the public purse but have not had a permanent role for more than five years, including one TAFE worker who was declared an excess employee in 1995, another in 1999 and two Roads and Traffic Authority employees who have not had a permanent job since 2001.
