| Subject: OZschwitz: Destructive statist's 2am lockout sends pubs into receivership Wed Jun 24, 2009 3:15 am | |
| AT 3AM, when most people are tucked up in bed, some city hotels are hitting their stride, thanks to a pre-dawn surge of shift workers, revellers and inveterate gamblers.
The phenomenon was highlighted yesterday when a group of Sydney's most prominent hotels was placed in receivership, with owners claiming new licence restrictions aimed at curbing drunken violence had decimated their profits.
Tony Woodward, the part-owner of the Vegas Hotel and the Mansions Hotel in Kings Cross, the Oxford in Darlinghurst and the Peakhurst Inn, claimed his revenues had fallen by "up to half" since the 2am lockout was introduced in December.
