| A Schuylkill County man who ran naked, except for a single sock, from a garage toward state troopers and was tased Saturday afternoon later died at Geisinger St. Luke’s Hospital in North Manheim Township. State police at Schuylkill Haven say Adam Gamrak, 38, of North Manheim continued to struggle and resist arrest after being tased. Troopers eventually placed him into custody, where Gamrak became unconscious. Schuylkill EMS took Gamrak to Geisinger St. Luke's, where he passed away later on Saturday.
According to police:
- Troopers responded shortly after 3:30 p.m. to a report of a male acting erratically at 93 Greenview Road in North Manheim. Police arrived at the residence and heard Gamrak in a garage on the lower floor.
- As police attempted to make contact with him, Gamrak aggressively ran toward them, wearing nothing but one sock. He failed to follow troopers’ commands, and they tased him. A lengthy struggle followed, and Gamrak actively resisted arrest.
- Once in custody, he became unresponsive and lost consciousness. Schuylkill EMS then responded.
- Police suspect that Gamrak was under the influence of a controlled substance.
Contacted Sunday, police said no further information was available. The phone number listed for the Schuylkill County Coroner’s office was temporarily disconnected as of Sunday afternoon. The investigation is ongoing pending an autopsy and toxicology results. This story will be updated.
