A police officer had his hand broken while arresting a woman in Aspley last night.

Officers were called to a caravan park on Gympie Road about 11pm where they arrested the woman, who was allegedly armed with a knife.

As police tried to place a seat belt around the 27-year-old woman, she allegedly kicked the officer in the hand.

The officer was taken to St Andrews Hospital, where it was confirmed the hand was broken in three places.

The woman was charged with serious assault on a police officer, obstructing police, going armed so as to cause fear and possession of a knife in a public place.

She appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
