BEDMINSTER - The township has agreed to pay nearly half a million dollars to settle a whistleblower lawsuit filed by a police officer. The agreement was made with John Dapkins Jr., a 16-year veteran of the Bedminster Police Department, who was suspended in October 2017 through a vote by the township committee. The settlement agreement, reached on Dec. 3, was first reported by John Paff, chairman of the New Jersey Libertarian Party's Open Government Advocacy Project, on njcivilsettlements.blogspot.com.
