| A HIGH-PROFILE police officer attached to the NSW counter-terrorism unit has pleaded guilty to possessing an unauthorised firearm and ammunition.
Sergeant Sean Matthew Wallace, a former homicide squad member was found in possession of a Gecado air rifle and ammunition, when officers from Professional Standards Command searched his Chipping Norton home in May.
The 40-year-old officer, who is currently on sick leave, had told police it was a friend's weapon and that he "forgot it was there".
Wallace yesterday pleaded guilty to both charges at Downing Centre Local Court.
Police documents tendered to court said Wallace surrendered a number of firearms, including two rifles, when his firearms licence expired in 2003.
