Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi students took down at least 30 Alt-right propaganda posters spotted throughout campus Saturday.

One of the posters, which reads, "Rapeugees not welcome," mentions a profile on the social network site Gab. Gab is a micro-blogging service similar to Twitter that does not suspend or remove users' accounts for posting hate speech or offensive content.

A post with photos of the signs that were spotted at A&M-CC by students went up on the mentioned profile Saturday. The profile claims responsibility for posting the signs: "When the door is left open, @BorderStormers field team takes the opportunity to leave no stone unturned at Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi campus!”

Another Saturday post reads: "@BorderStormers Team performs this Activism service for the students of Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi campus ... Because we care about their future and Science!"

Daniel Yzaguirre, president of the Student Citizen Activists of TAMUCC, summoned student members to the campus Saturday to help take down the signs.

“This will not be tolerated at our campus,” Yzaguirre said.

University spokeswoman Luisa Buttler said university staff suspects the signs went up after business hours Friday and about six were pulled down by staff Saturday morning.

"We're not sure if the group came back and posted more signs," Buttler said. "It does seem unlikely that our staff missed 30 signs."

Buttler confirmed the signs were not approved by university staff to be posted.

"If the signs had been approved for campus posting, they would have been clearly marked with a stamp and signature," Buttler said in an email to the Caller-Times. "These signs did not have that stamp or signature. Additionally, the signage was placed on doors and windows, which is not allowed for any campus flyers or banners."

Any posted information must be reviewed and stamped at the university's scheduling desk, then posted by a staff person on the appropriate bulletin board, according to the university's website. Signs, fliers, banners etc. may not be taped or tacked to walls, doors, trim, windows, railings, furniture or equipment at any time.
