| Subject: Statism forcing innocents to beg for their lives: 'Don't send us back to a certain death': Rohingya Muslims beg India for refuge Mon Sep 11, 2017 8:08 pm | |
| After years of seeing Myanmar soldiers bursting into the thatched huts of his village in Andan and raping women at gunpoint, Mohammed Harun, a 38-year-old Rohingya Muslim, escaped to India two years ago from across the border with Bangladesh.
He vows never to go back.
"I can't call a country where I don't feel safe my home," he said. "I've been a refugee twice, both times we escaped to Bangladesh because of the inhumanity of the military.
"Twice the Bangladesh government told us it was safe to return and we did but it wasn't safe. This time, I am not leaving India, no matter what I'm told."
