| A Hattiesburg woman indicted for threatening three local judges was determined fit to stand trial after undergoing a psychiatric evaluation. Debbie Joan Foret, 57, was indicted on four charges by a Forrest County grand jury in December 2016.
According to the indictment, Foret is facing three counts of retaliation against a public servant and one count of cyberstalking. She is accused of threatening Hattiesburg Municipal Court Judge Jerry Evans, telling him, "I am going to enjoy you begging for your (word missing) like I did and you f****** made fun of me. Jerry Evans is mine, too." She allegedly made a threat to 10th District Chancery Judge Johnny Williams, saying, "We are all going to die." Foret also allegedly threatened 10th District Chancery Judge Rhea Sheldon, telling the judge, "I am going to f*** Judge Rhea Sheldon's world up." All three statements allegedly were made on or about Aug. 14, 2016, in retaliation for lawful "service" as a public servant. In addition, Foret was indicted for cyberstalking between, on or about Aug. 1-14, 2016, for allegedly using "email and/or text messages for the purpose of threatening, terrifying or harassing Michael Ratcliff, to wit; sending over 40 text messages and emails with threatening statements." ing to the indictment, Foret is facing three counts of retaliation against a public servant and one count of cyberstalking. Three days after allegedly making the threats, Foret barricaded herself in her Lamar County home when officers with the U.S. Marshals Service attempted to serve a warrant for her arrest, causing a standoff of five hours with multiple law enforcement agencies. She was taken into custody without incident. She was not charged in the standoff, Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel said in an earlier story. Foret's initial trial date was set for May 2, but was moved to Aug. 22 to allow time to determine whether she would be able to stand trial.
