| Eleven people have been caught in a police prostitution bust during the Gold Coast Indy weekend.
Dubbed Operation Echo Pago, officers from the State Crime Operations Command Prostitution Enforcement Taskforce carried out the sting between Thursday and Sunday, charging 11 people who either allegedly provided or used illegal prostitution services.
They included several women aged 22 to 43, who were charged with knowingly participating in the provision of prostitution. Some were also charged with possession of tainted property.
Three men were also charged during the operation.
One of them, a 28-year-old, will face court on two counts of knowingly participating in the provision of prostitution and two counts of possession of tainted property.
Police also seized a large sum of money during the bust.
Senior Sergeant Dave Cove of the Prostitution Enforcement Taskforce attributed the operation's success to "excellent information" provided to the police and also the work of the officers involved.
