| The tax reform and job stimulus plans of Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton have special significance here in New Hampshire but for different reasons.
Trump last week tweaked his income tax overhaul — it would be the biggest tax reform in 30 years — and that should spur plenty of interest in this state with the sixth highest per capita income in the nation. Then there’s Clinton’s plan to spend the most on infrastructure since Eisenhower started the Interstate Turnpike System a half century ago. This would mean more help for the 140 red-listed dangerous bridges in a state with the 16th lowest, state gasoline tax rate. Trump’s plan would replace the current federal tax code for individuals of seven brackets down to three — 12, 25 and a top rate of 33 percent. The billionaire businessman on Monday raised his top tax rate so they all matched the leading, congressional Republican proposal on Capitol Hill.
