| Google has lodged a patent design in the US for a smart lens intended to correct poor vision.
The patent application was lodged to the US Patent and Trademark Office in 2014 and was published on April 28, 2016.
Created by inventor Andrew Jason Conrad, the smart lens is described as "an intra-ocular device" which includes an electronic lens.
The lens could potentially correct vision, removing the need for glasses or contact lenses.
The patent says the electronic lens could assist in the process of refocusing light into the eye's retina.
The procedure itself could be quite intrusive. According to the patent application it would involve injecting a fluid into the eye that then solidifies.
