| Only because we have a deranged socialist nut with hoards of mind-numbed followers hoping for FREEEEEEEEE everything, this is very necessary. And I can never pick on Venezuela’s government enough.
According to this, Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro announced that all Fridays for the next month are going to be holidays, which means nobody – and they mean NOBODY – will be allowed to work. In true socialist “The Government LOVES You, So Love Us Back Or Else!” fashion, this is being treated as a super-fun-times treat. Like – “Look how well the government serves you – we’re giving you a month full of long weekends so you can enjoy yourselves and have some much-needed time off. Aren’t we just the BEST? Say we’re the BEST. SAY IT!!!!”
Except – that’s not what’s actually happening. See, Venezuela is a crap-hole. They’ve been dealing with energy shortages, as well as runaway inflation and food rationing. The energy shortage is partially due to the country’s crumbling infrastructure that hasn’t been updated in decades, as well as massive droughts. True, you can’t do too much about droughts or other natural disasters – but you can prepare for them. And Venezuela’s socialist policies aren’t very conducive to preparing for much of anything.
