| The federal government accepts that superannuation is not intended to be a support for the accumulation of wealth that can be passed down to generations.
An admission that opens the door to a future crackdown on super tax breaks for the wealthy, even if these are now off the table ahead of the May budget.
"No one has a right to a super tax concession. It is a gift that the government should only provide when it makes sense," Assistant Treasurer Kelly O'Dwyer said on Wednesday.
