| The headmaster of the elite Cranbrook School in Sydney has written to parents assuring them students' safety is his highest priority, after allegations were levelled against him at the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sex Abuse this week.
Nicholas Sampson, who has been the headmaster of Cranbrook School since 2012, said he would give evidence at the royal commission later this week to address the allegations raised by Jonathan Harvey, a former teacher who previously worked at Geelong Grammar School when Mr Sampson was the headmaster there.
In his testimony to the royal commission on Monday, Harvey alleged that Mr Sampson suggested that Harvey retire from Geelong Grammar School early after hearing of his misconduct relating to a student.
Harvey was jailed in 2007 for 10 months, with another 22 months suspended, after pleading guilty to abusing a former student, known as BLF, between 1976 and 1978.
