Bwahahaha! OZschwitz: Three boys aged six ran a "sex club" at a Brisbane state school

The Queensland government says its wants to hear of any sex-related incidents at the state's primary schools.

Education Minister Rod Welford said Education Queensland had launched a survey seeking information following reports children as young as six had been involved in sex acts with their classmates.

He described the cases as "rare but serious", although the government knew there had been at least seven in the past two years.

A Brisbane newspaper today reported three boys aged six ran a "sex club" at a Brisbane state school demanding and receiving sexual favours.

An outraged father told the paper the school did not bother to tell him that his son was involved in the sex club for more than a week.

On the Sunshine Coast, a gang of nine-year-old boys used lollies to entice other students to perform sexual favours.

A grandmother of one of those victims told the paper the Education Department promised an investigation but did nothing.

The revelations come after it was reported the principal of a country school, where a seven-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a classmate in May, had dismissed the attack as a "childhood experiment" and failed to contact parents or police.

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh yesterday rejected claims the school principal failed to report the sexual assault case.

Mr Welford said students' welfare was the main concern.

"The safety and welfare of students is of course paramount in all of these incidents," Mr Welford said.

He said the authorities would provide counselling services at the government's expense to any family affected.
