"Irrespective of sex differences, head-locators characterised themselves as rational, logical, and interpersonally cold, whereas heart-locators characterised themselves as emotional, feminine, and interpersonally warm," wrote the authors of a 2013 study, published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. They also found "head" people tended to be better at answering general knowledge questions, perform better academically and be less emotionally reactive to stress.
