| Subject: OZschwitz gulag: Detention centre workers, doctors challenge government to prosecute them over new laws Thu Jul 02, 2015 3:36 am | |
| Dozens of doctors, teachers and humanitarian workers have challenged the Abbott government to prosecute them for publicly discussing conditions in immigration detention centres.
More than 40 former detention centre workers made the dare in an open letter to Prime Minister Tony Abbott, Immigration Minister Peter Dutton and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten on Wednesday. This was the first day of a new law that makes it a crime for an "entrusted person" to disclose information about detention centres such as those on Nauru or Manus Island.
