| One of the key players behind a push to strip green groups of their charitable status, the Minerals Council of Australia, has missed the deadline to make a submission to a parliamentary inquiry that could deliver that result.
But a Coalition-dominated committee will ensure that the council's late submission is included, Fairfax Media has learnt.
It was the mining industry and its representative lobby groups, such as the Minerals Council, which months ago began calling for donations to environmental organisations to no longer be tax deductible.
The miners believe green groups, including Greenpeace, the Australian Conservation Foundation and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), use public donations to advance their political agendas and should be restricted to "on ground" activities.
