An East Perth man has been charged after allegedly driving at speeds reaching 150km/h and overtaking other cars on the wrong side of the road to avoid slowing for police.

Just before midnight, officers spotted that a silver Lexus on Marangaroo Drive in Koondoola had incorrect numberplates.

When police attempted to stop the Lexus, the driver allegedly refused and drove in a reckless manner to evade officers.

“It is further alleged that the vehicle travelled through a number of streets at up to 150km/h and at times overtaking other vehicles on the incorrect side of the road to avoid slowing down,” a police spokesman said.
