Pippa Middleton has discovered whale meat, thinks it's quite tasty and said so in a national paper in the U.K. Now she's being fried by animal-rights groups, and the British tabloids are chortling at the spectacle.

The younger sister of Duchess Kate of Cambridge, a keen ski fan, wrote a travel column on her ski trip to Norway for The Telegraph on Tuesday, which included notes on what she ate.

"We dined on smoked whale carpaccio (which tastes similar to smoked salmon but looks more like venison carpaccio), followed by a signature rustic Norwegian dish of salted cod in tomato, with hunks of fresh homemade bread to mop up the sauce," she enthused in the column.

The considerable save-the-whales crowd in Europe and the U.K. was not pleased: "Ill-advised," "disappointing" and "cruel" were only some of the comments about Pippa's culinary adventures.
