| Subject: Why has raw food exploded? Sun Apr 12, 2015 9:54 pm | |
| When Sex and the City's Samantha battled her way through four courses at a raw food restaurant in New York, she had more appetite for the sizzling waiter than the healthy, cold dishes on offer.
But that was 2003, and in the years since, raw food – once considered a fringe movement for the health-obsessed – has clawed its way towards mainstream popularity.
"In the past five years, it's exploded; the whole industry has exploded," says Tommy Nichols, who has transformed his parents' 20-year-old blender distribution business into an online force that turned over $4.7 million last year.
