| A 25-year-old died after he struck a tree Sunday morning while officers were chasing the man for reckless driving, state police say. Sherman Rodney Brown in a 2103 Toyota Camry was topping 100 mph on I-64 near the I-264 interchange around 7:30 a.m. Nov. 29, the release stated. When a trooper tried to stop Brown, he initially pulled over but then sped off as the officer slowed down. While Brown was trying to elude police on the interstate, he lost control of his car while trying to take the Indian River Road exit. He then crashed into the tree and died on scene. Brown was not wearing a seat belt, police said. According to the release, alcohol was not a factor. He was the only person in the vehicle. The Indian River Road exit was closed for almost four hours while state police investigated.
