As winter approaches and millions of Syrians and Iraqis take shelter in high altitude areas, they face months of freezing conditions and snow without adequate food or shelter, the United Nations High Commission for Refugees said.

The nights are already getting cold, the rainy season has started and many refugees, such as those from the besieged town of Kobane who are forced to sleep outdoors in public parks across the border in Turkey, are starting to struggle to keep their families warm and dry.
