John Coleman, co-founder of the Weather Channel, shocked the world and the scientific community when he claimed that there is little scientific evidence to prove that global warming is real, and that the whole thing has become nothing but a political tool that is not backed by true scientific evidence.

We understand that Coleman wrote an open letter to organizers of the Hammer Forum at UCLA that is aimed at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The Oct. 23 forum topic was "Tackling Climate Change Nationally and Globally," and Coleman urged fourm organizers to re-examine their plan to present two speakers who believe scientific evidence supports climate change. Coleman claims that reports of ice sheets melting away are lies, and that heat waves are not increasing, but diminishing instead. He also claimed that the polar bear population is rising rather than falling.

"The ocean is not rising significantly. The polar ice is increasing, not melting away. Polar bears are increasing in number. Heat waves have actually diminished, not increased. There is not an uptick in the number or strength of storms (in fact, storms are diminishing)," says Coleman. "I have studied this topic seriously for years. It has become a political and environment agenda item, but the science is not valid."

Coleman went on to add that he based most of his views on the findings of the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC), an international body that says "because it is not a government agency, and because its members are not predisposed to believe climate change is caused by human greenhouse gas emissions, NIPCC is able to offer an independent 'second opinion' of the evidence reviewed - or not reviewed - by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) on the issue of global warming."

"There is no significant man-made global warming at this time, there has been none in the past and there is no reason to fear any in the future," Coleman writes. "Efforts to prove the theory that carbon dioxide is a significant greenhouse gas and pollutant causing significant warming or weather effects have failed.

"There has been no warming over 18 years."

From the statements he's making, it is clear that Coleman believes wholeheartedly that he's correct, and is willing to put his neck on the line to bring this to the attention of the world.

If the man is indeed telling the truth, then this is probably one of the biggest reveals in the history of man.

We await anything the global warming community has to say about Coleman's statement, along with responses from scientists and politicians alike. It would be very interesting to see what they have to say to what Coleman is claiming, and if they can come up with the proof to shut him down.
