The State Government has called for Opposition health spokesman Stephen Wade to be sacked following revelations police were sent to the home of a man who made a complaint against the Liberal Party.

Mr Wade yesterday apologised after Opposition Leader Steven Marshall incorrectly linked the death of an elderly hospital patient to overcrowding.

Health Minister Jack Snelling said a police patrol went to speak with the son of the woman who died in response to an angry complaint he had made to Mr Wade's office.

"This has gone beyond a joke," Mr Snelling said.

"That Stephen Wade would call the police out on a grieving family who were upset about the Liberal Party dragging their mother's death into Parliament to score cheap political points ... it is now time for Steven Marshall to come out of hiding and sack Stephen Wade as the Opposition health spokesman," he said.
