| Waldo, FL -- Details emerged regarding criminal allegations against the Waldo Police chief, who was suspended earlier this month, after five officers presented evidence at a town council meeting late Tuesday night.
According to a copy of the presentation, the officers alleged that Chief Michael Szabo took unaccounted for leave, established an illegal ticket quota of 12 tickets a day and made unlawful traffic stops. The allegations—brought by officers Roy Steadman, Brandon Roberts, Tim Logan, Brian Shoaf and Cpl. Jeff Pedrick—also included acting chief Kenneth Smith.
The officers presented pictures showing that Smith stole towels from hotels while traveling on behalf of the department. The pictures also show city-owned cameras that the officers allege smith uses to monitor the apartment complex where he lives.
Though the agency refused to officially confirm it, two Florida Department of Law Enforcement employees told TV20 these allegations are currently under investigation by the FDLE.
