THE disgraced former NSW deputy Crown prosecutor Patrick Power walked to freedom yesterday after six months of isolation in Long Bay jail and publicly apologised for indulging in child pornography.

Mr Power, a 55-year-old disbarred senior counsel, walked from the jail's main gate and into a media pack as he tried to get to a waiting car.

He told reporters he had been held in "complete isolation" in a special protection unit. Some of the jail's other inmates were behind bars because of his work as a prosecutor.
