| Subject: The absurdity of additional OZschwitz red tape: Overhaul of government IT supplier accreditation Wed Jul 23, 2014 9:35 pm | |
| Technology and telecommunication companies wanting to do business with the Queensland government will now be required to pay an annual accreditation fee of $396 to a private organisation before they can be considered for contracts.
Accreditation under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland’s new QAssure scheme will be a prerequisite for obtaining the Government Information Technology Contracting (GITC) accreditation needed to supply information and communication technology (ICT) to the state.
Suppliers could previously apply for GITC accreditation at no cost.
For its fee, the chamber will run business registration and directors checks with ASIC and ensure applicants hold active insurance policies and are solvent. Between 1200 and 1800 suppliers are expected to seek accreditation each year.
The chamber's commercial general manager, Phill Gallagher, claimed QAssure accreditation would reduce the need for suppliers to provide their credentials repeatedly to government agencies and improve their standing in the eyes of private clients.
