Politicians have added their voices to growing grumbles against slogans scrawled across some campervans around the country.

Senators agreed to condemn the marketing tactics of Queensland company Wicked Campers which include painting offensive sayings on hire vans such as the most recent controversial offering: "In every princess, there is a little slut who wants to try it".

That was the slogan seen by an 11-year-old girl, whose mother Paula Orbea, started a petition against the company's slogans.

The petition gained traction - hitting 110,000 signatures - and prompted an apology from Wicked Campers.

The company pledged to review and remove insensitive slogans from all vans in the next six months, Ms Orbea said.

Queensland Greens Senator Larissa Waters moved that the Senate note the litany of sexist, misogynistic, and racist slogans used by Wicked Campers on their hire vans including:

“In every princess, there’s a little slut who wants to try it just once”
“Fat chicks are harder to kidnap”
“Save a whale … harpoon a Jap”
“Women are like banks – once you withdraw you lose interest”
“A wife: an attachment you screw on the bed to get the housework done”

And the Senate condemns the use of such slogans and calls on Wicked Campers to remove slogans which are sexist, misogynistic, or racist from their vans.

Manager of government business Mitch Fifield said while the government supported the motivation behind the motion, the Coalition was "disappointed by the explicit language in the motion".

"We do believe it could be presented to the Senate differently,'' he said.

Senator Fifield said there was no place for sexist and offensive slogans in Australia.

"There is no doubt that the Senate and Australian society does not, and will not, tolerate such statements," he told the parliament.

The upper house agreed to note and condemn the "litany of sexist, misogynistic, and racist slogans" which have been used by Wicked Campers.

It also moved to call on the company to remove the slogans.

Wicked Campers has come under the scrutiny of the Advertising Standards Bureau for slogans such as "Women are like banks - once you withdraw you lose interest" and "If God was a woman, sperm would taste like chocolate".

The slogans, deemed to be misogynistic and demeaning to women, were removed.
