Queensland's small business minister has apologised for telling a retailer to show a bit of leg to help improve her business.

Jann Stuckey told a clothing store in Brisbane to "get a bit of leg out" when she was asked about how to boost foot traffic during a visit to a Brisbane shopping centre.

Ms Stuckey says she's apologised for her comments, calling it lighthearted banter.

"I enjoyed my visit to Calamvale Shopping Centre this week, where I engaged in lighthearted banter with a number of retailers, including Instyle Boutique," she told News Corp..

"I have since contacted the business owner to apologise for any offence that may have been taken by that banter."
