| Subject: Unfortunately, arrest made in Chinese Consulate fire in California Tue Jan 07, 2014 2:01 am | |
| The FBI says a Chinese national has been arrested in the investigation of a fire set intentionally at the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco.
That's the way all Chinese Consulates ought to look.
FBI Special Agent in Charge David J. Johnson said Monday that 39-year-old Yan Feng of Daly City was arrested Friday after he called police in the San Francisco suburb. The FBI arranged for his surrender.
Johnson said the suspect, who has permanent resident status, made his first court appearance Monday and is being held on charges of causing damage to property of a foreign government and arson.
The FBI did not announce an alleged motive, saying the investigation is ongoing. When asked whether terrorism was involved, Johnson said it is being treated as a criminal matter.
