| The first Australian to treat immune system deficiency by self-administering concentrated antibodies has given the process the thumbs up.
Waramanga's Julie Cornwell-Kelly has made history by injecting a highly concentrated subcutaneous immunoglobulin at home.
Now produced in Australia, the product is a life-changer for people whose white blood cells have stopped producing the antibodies they need to fight off common infections.
It is expected that up to 30 per cent of all patients with immune deficiencies, or between 130 and 150 Canberrans, will ultimately benefit from the process. Australia-wide the number will run into the thousands.
