A $3000 compensation payment has been made to the family of an Afghan father and his son who were found dead after an Australian special forces raid in Afghanistan, the dead man's brother has claimed.

Mohammed Mosoom vigorously rejected allegations that his late brother Bismillah Jan was Taliban or that he had been using his son as a shield when they were killed on September 27.

A father of six, Jan, 35, was found shot dead with the body of his six-year-old son Sediqullah lying on top of him after a raid by Australian special forces at a house west of Tarin Kowt, the capital of Oruzgan province.

Sediqullah's body was reported to have been found lying on top of his father with a syringe sticking out of his chest. The bodies were under a bullet-riddled blanket.
