Police say they have partly dismantled a violent Assyrian gang during a series of dawn raids in which 13 men were arrested in Sydney's south-west on Monday.

More than 340 officers swooped on 22 homes and businesses of DLASTHR (The Last Hour) members, who typically ink their backs with a tattoo of a clenched fist.

The gang became less prominent after its leader Raymon Youmaran was jailed in 2006, but has been linked to more than a dozen public shootings in the past two years.
