| Workplace bullying has reached extreme levels in the NSW health system, despite government programs, including an anti-bullying hotline, to stamp out the practice.
A survey has found that seven of the 10 most bullied government agencies are local health districts.
In the worst case, almost three-quarters of staff working in the Central Coast Health District said they had witnessed bullying last year.
About two-thirds of health workers in the Illawarra, Nepean, northern NSW, Western NSW and mid North Coast health districts had seen staff being bullied, according to Public Service Commission survey results obtained under freedom-of-information rules. Advertisement
The rate of bullying in the health system was well above the average for 152 government agencies surveyed, of 48 per cent.
