| Subject: DoD’s New Strategy: Posture Transcom For Post-War ‘Kinetic’ Future Sun Oct 14, 2012 3:59 am | |
| Editor’s Note: My take from deconstructing this article is that the DoD believes ‘declared’ nationalistic wars are at an end. True, as it is a fact that the US hasn’t declared war on anyone since WW2 regardless of our actions in Iraq, Libya, Somalia, etc. Military actions today are at the international-level, even if it is a coalition of the willing. The R2P[Responsibility to Protect] doctrine is used often to depose those who are a perceived threat even on an economic or strategic stage. Be on the look out for global strikes and other kinetic actions based on humanitarian needs.
The Department of Defense plans to use its global strike program with USTRANSCOM to project power across the board. USTRANSCOM will become the engine for global warfare and sustained engagement. Africa Command was once established to aid Africans during disasters and for training but today it may be used to intervene in Mali with the EU. There are some major changes on the global chessboard, and the US and the EU plan to adjust to it on the fly. The European Union may have a rapid response army in the near future to handle international threats. SOCOM/SOC will be put into play for quick insertions and covert action, for example in Uganda and Somalia. DoD can change the nomenclature but war is still a racket. –Michael Vail
