| A leading water heater manufacturer insists its products are suitable for Canberra's climate, despite scores of its solar heaters failing through the winter months, in some cases up to three times.
People who had hoped to benefit with reduced energy consumption have paid up to $635 for repairs to their Dux water heaters installed since 2008.
Though replacement components have been covered by the warranty, the labour charge is not.
Dux has contributed to some repairs but many people are out of pocket, particularly those who ''have had a gutful'' and paid to have entire new systems from other manufacturers installed. Advertisement
More than three years ago, Village Building engaged Dux to supply solar hot water systems to its housing developments in Canberra. A spokeswoman for the company said that due to a multitude of continuing failures, Village Building had changed suppliers. |
