| Not many people can afford to buy a Lamborghini – so why not just build one?
That’s what 28-year-old Chinese man Wang Jian has done, replicating the ultra-exotic Lamborghini Reventon coupe out of scrap iron sheeting and recycled wrecked cars.
According to UK news site ITN, the supercar lookalike rides on Volkswagen underpinnings and the rear-mounted engine is sourced from a Nissan van – dubbed the “Volksvanghini”. The site claims Wang has managed to build the car for about 60,000 Chinese Yuan ($9200), but it obviously still needs a few Yuan spent on the finishing touches. Headlights and tail-lights, for example.
Inside, the car is a bare bones affair, with just a driver’s seat, pedal box and an upside-down steering wheel filling the space in the cabin. Wang reportedly uses the car to ferry fertiliser to his parents’ farm.
