A former teacher at a Perth private school has been sentenced to five years' jail for molesting three male students between 1999 and 2001.

The 60-year-old man who can't be named was found guilty of six counts of indecent dealings with a child under 13 in the District Court of Western Australia today.

The offences occurred when the man was a Year 5 teacher and the victims, the former pupils, were aged nine.

In 2010 the man was found guilty of 13 counts of indecent dealings with a child. However he appealed the sentence and six were listed for retrial.

Today, Judge John Staude reinstated the original sentence imposed.

He said the man "groomed by praise, encouragement and gifts."

"Their [the students] vulnerability was exploited in a cruel and sustained manner."

The offending did not include sexual penetration, but the man had touched the genitals of the children.
