| An ultra-rare 1962 model Ferrari 250 GT Spyder is expected to fetch $9 million when it goes under the hammer in California later this month.
Officially titled the “250 GT SWB California Spyder”, the convertible sports car is described by the auction house as “one of the most beautiful and desirable Ferraris in existence”. According to the vendor it is one of just 37 examples of the short wheelbase 250 GT ever made, and is differentiated both by the shorter distance between the front and rear wheels, and a unique front end design with enclosed headlights.
The 3.0-litre V12 model up for auction is coated in the eye-catching Rosso Corsa red with a tidy tan leather interior. In 1990, the car won a class award at the venerable Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
