The oil-rich Middle East is a hotbed of supercar activity, with exotic machinery ranging from the extremely fast to the extremely rare.

The region is also home to some of the most outlandish car customisation trends, from mirror-like chrome to gold-flaked paintwork and diamond-encrusting.

But one thing that’s missing in the Middle East is a home-grown supercar brand … until now.

W Motors, a Beirut-based supercar start up, has grand ambitions to produce two of the “most exclusive, luxurious and technologically advanced hyper-cars in the world”.

The Hyper-sport and Super-sport will become the first ever supercars produced in the region “introducing never seen before technologies inside and out” when they make their anticipated debut at January’s Qatar motor show.

The Hyper-sport flagship will be limited to just five cars worldwide and labelled the most exclusive - and luxurious - high performance car ever made.

It will be suitably distinguished with signature, diamond-encrusted LED lighting, a gold-plated bonnet and an ultra-stiff and lightweight chassis made from carbon fibre.

W Motors also claims its flagship model will feature the world’s first fully functional holographic display with interactive motion “gaining years of innovation ahead of competition”.

Nestled behind the two-seat cockpit will be a twin-turbocharged, mid-mounted V6 producing 550kW of power and built by one of Germany’s respected Porsche tuners, RUF.

The company claims the car will sprint from 0-100km/h in 2.8 seconds, one-tenth of a second quicker than the Lamborghini Aventador. It has a claimed top speed of 385km/h.

No pricing for the cars has been released, and the maker is also keeping quiet about the performance of the presumably less powerful and more affordable Super-sport.

The cars will be built by Austrian-based contractor manufacturer, Magna Steyr, which currently produces the Mini Countryman, Peugeot RCZ, Mercedes-Benz’s G-Class off-roader and the body of its SLS supercar. Until recently it also built Aston Martin’s four-door Rapide.
