| AUTHORITIES estimated as many as 90 people were dead or missing last night after a boat carrying up to 200 asylum seekers capsized about 200 kilometres north of Christmas Island yesterday.
As Australian rescue ships and planes, and three commercial vessels, scoured the scene inside Indonesia's search and rescue zone, a spokeswoman for the Australian Maritime Safety Authority said 200 people were believed to have been on the boat.
By midnight, Sydney time, only 110 survivors had been pulled from the water. The spokeswoman could not confirm any fatalities and the search was to continue through the night.
