| A 25-year-old Port Charlotte man was arrested for attempting to buy items at a convenience store using forged bills.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, a uniformed deputy inside Rainbow Food Market at 2350 Harbor Boulevard observed 25-year-old Ryan Anthony Signore attempt to purchase cigarettes and an iced tea with a counterfeit $50 bill.
The deputy stopped Signore and asked if he had any additional $50 bills. Signore went to his vehicle and allowed the deputy to search inside. Two more counterfeit $50 bills were found.
Signore had also attempted to cash one of the bills at the Sonoco gas station at 2483 Tamiami Trail but the clerk refused, telling him it was counterfeit.
Signore was arrested and taken to the Charlotte County Jail.
