| Touring is becoming the only way to survive as piracy kills the musical star.
Sydney electronic band Seekae have played to a sold- out Metro theatre, finished a European tour and played the Sydney Opera House. Twice. But they still struggle to make money.
Their second album, +Dome , has been illegally downloaded more than 3000 times, far outstripping legal sales.
Only through playing live and having the band's music placed on a Hyundai car advertisement and on a few television shows have they been ''lucky enough to stay afloat'', lead singer John Hassell says. ''Money is an issue.'' Away from the top mainstream bands that fill stadiums and sell millions of albums, Seekae's story is not unusual for middle-of-the-road bands struggling to earn money from their craft.
