| THE Police Integrity Commission says it does not have the resources to investigate the police shootings of two teenagers joyriding in Kings Cross.
The NSW Police Force is investigating the April 21 incident, but has been criticised by some who say it is inappropriate for police to investigate their own officers.
The NSW Greens wrote to the commission requesting an independent investigation of the Kings Cross incident.

In his response to the NSW Greens MP David Shoebridge, Commissioner Bruce James, QC, said the commission had only eight investigators and had ''neither the resources nor the structure which would support a capability to investigate incidents of the kind which occurred on 21 April''.
''There are many respects in which the commission lacks the resources and the structure, which are available to the NSW Police Force to investigate critical incidents,'' he said.
Critical incidents are those involving police officers which result in the death or serious injury of a member of the public or a police officer.
