A FEDERAL Labor member will this week take a dead man to a Labor Party disciplinary committee.

The action is part of the continuing fallout from the toxic fight between the Left and Right wings of the Newcastle ALP over former state member Bryce Gaudry's dumping and a decade-long power struggle.

Sharon Grierson, member for Newcastle, is pursuing charges of branch stacking against former vice-president of the Carrington branch Peter Kane, despite the fact that Kane, 56, died of leukaemia on December 1 last year.

The charges against Kane, and Merewether West branch secretary David March who challenged Ms Grierson for preselection at the last federal poll, will be heard by the ALP's Credentials Committee in Sydney on Wednesday night.

Kane's charges relate to bulk cash payments of membership dues on May 31 last year.
