| — ANNOUNCEMENT — ISIL Has Acquired Laissez Faire Books
We are pleased to announce that the International Society for Individual Liberty has taken over the reins of Laissez Faire Books. A truly iconic institution in the libertarian movement, Laissez Faire Books was originally founded in 1972 by Sharon Presley and John Muller and operated as a storefont bookstore in New York City (later moving to San Francisco). Andrea and Howie Rich took over in 1980, providing financial support that contributed greatly to Laissez Faire's growth as a movement institution. It was run for a short time by Mark Skousen and FEE – and up to the present by Kathleen Nelson in Little Rock, AR. Our hats are off to these good folks for all the blood, sweat and tears in maintaining this vital service throughout the years.
Under the ISIL umbrella Laissez Faire will continue to offer a wide selection of books of special interest to libertarians. But we will also focus on our mission as a non-profit educational foundation. Employing the publishing arm of Cobden Press we will be publishing new books as well as reprinting classics from the past.
Laissez Faire will also be donating libertarian works to schools, libraries and to worthy libertarian individuals and organizations both in America – and in 3rd world and developing countries. This will allow individual Americans who donate funds to receive tax credits.
A more detailed explanation of the new Laissez Faire Books will be forthcoming soon. We will be e-mailing a catalog in pdf format soon, so if you are not already on the Laissez Faire e-mail list please contact us and ask to be included. E-mail is laissezfairebooks@gmail.com. |
