| A FORTNIGHT ago, a Griffith farmer, John Bisetto, made headlines by accosting the Water Minister, Tony Burke, over the Murray-Darling basin rescue plan, calling the minister "a disgrace" in front of TV cameras.
Yesterday, there was more where that came from and it was not only Mr Burke that Mr Bisetto and other angry irrigators had in their sights.
"I wanted to give Tony Abbott a rip too but I didn't get a chance," Mr Bisetto said, after an estimated 10,000 farmers and residents of Griffith gathered for a rowdy meeting with Mr Burke and the chairman of the Murray-Darling Basin Authority, Craig Knowles, who is Mr Burke's point man on the contentious draft plan to deliver 2750 billion litres of extra environmental water to the river system, partly by buying up irrigators' water rights.
